When it snowed last week, the last thing I wanted to do was leave my cold home to go out into the even colder snow. But, we live in Georgia, and who knows when we will see snow again. With that thought in mind, Charlie and I bundled up and headed out to play. When I asked Charlie if he wanted to play outside, he looked at me with amazement. It was as if he had forgotten that that was even a possibility anymore. Once outside, he was in heaven. He noticed the snowflakes falling on his jacket immediately and asked, "What's that?" about 2 dozen times. I taught him to catch the snowflakes on his tongue, and he thought that was the best. He ran up and down the hill in our front yard squealing and catching snowflakes in his mouth for over 20 minutes before Momma put a stop to the fun. It was just too cold to stay out any longer considering he had bitten his mittens off within the first minute we were out. He pouted the entire time I pulled the layers off of both of us, but his spirits perked up considerably when I introduced him to the joys of hot chocolate. We shared a mug on the sofa while cuddling under a blanket together. The only thing missing was a roaring fire in the background.

Colder Than a Polar Bear's Toe Nails
Last week was just plain C-O-L-D, and our furnace decided it was a good time to act up. The heat would be set for 75 degrees, but our thermostat read 55 degrees. The upstairs was bearable, while the downstairs felt much like a meat locker. We called our heating company and were advised to replace our entire system and basically redo the duct work in our home if we want improvement. Let's just say that is not something that we had really planned for with a new baby on the way. Long story short: we are trying to find an alternative solution, but we have been very cold while doing so.
