The changes in Jack this month have been monumental. He is officially mobile and very happy about it. He is crawling everywhere and climbing and pulling up on everything. It still shocks me to look over and see him standing up next to the couch or anything else for that matter. I get a kick out of watching him scoot all over the place, but it is a whole new ball game now that I have to keep up with him and Charlie. I just pray that I have a couple more months before he takes off walking.
Jack is now a formula baby. He refused to nurse shorty after turning 8 months, and I decided it was a good time to call it quits for good. Unfortunately, the week he was weaned was also the week that his formula was recalled...nice. Hopefully, he did not ingest too much beetle juice before we got the memo and switched over to liquid formula. In addition to refusing to nurse, Jack also decided that baby food was not for him. He would turn his head and slap the spoon as soon as it came close to his mouth. So, now it is only finger foods for Jack. He is a bit pickier than Charlie was at this age and definitely approaches new foods with caution. Sometimes he won't even try a food and simply begins throwing it off of his tray to show his disapproval. All of the food and formula has really made Jack a little chunk. I took him to the doctor last week because I thought he might have an ear infection. No ear infection, but I did find out that Jack is 20 pounds (a little less than Charlie was on his 1st birthday).
Sleeping through the night is still not on Jack's To Do list, but he only gets up once a night to eat around 4-5am. He wakes up for the day any time between 6:30-7:30am, which drives me nuts. I am not a morning person, and I was spoiled by Charlie's 8:00 wake up over the last two years. I am absolutely terrified for the time change. I will not be a happy camper if he starts getting up any earlier. Jack naps three times a day for an average of 45 minutes each time. Sometimes his middle nap lasts a bit longer. But, like his brother, he is not a long napper. I swear, Nick and I must have the worst sleep genes. Both of our kids sleep the absolute minimum number of hours for their age.
Jack continues to be a happy little man. He is babbling more and more. We hear a lot of bababa, dadada, and nenene sounds. Now that he is moving around, he is happy to play by himself for long periods of time. Occasionally he will crawl over and rest his head on someone, but then he is off to explore again. He is very much a momma's boy, and starts whimpering as soon as I walk into the room. It's a wonderful feeling to know that I can make him so happy. I honestly love being Jack's mommy and can't believe how fast he is growing.
